Warranty, Shipping & Returns

Warranty ▾
Warranty basics
ActiveAid shower commode chairs are made in the USA by Altimate Medical in Minnesota, and are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty is extended to the original purchaser only. Morelli Medical is an authorised Altimate Medical supplier — so warranty service runs through us.
Warranty length
Coverage varies by component:
  • Stainless steel frame: 3 years
  • Brake mechanisms, locking mechanisms, wheels and casters: 1 year
  • Other metal and structural parts: 1 year
  • Upholstered components, plastic pads, rubber parts, painted surfaces, bearings and all other parts: 6 months on the 285TR and 600; 90 days on the ActiveAid SC
The warranty period starts on the date the chair ships from the factory, not the date it is delivered.
How warranty repairs work
Any product the manufacturer confirms is defective within the warranty period will be repaired or replaced, at the manufacturer's option. Repair or replacement is the sole remedy under the warranty. Labour for installing replacement parts is not included. Never send a product to the factory without prior authorisation — contact us first.
What is not covered
The warranty does not apply where:
  • the serial number has been removed or defaced
  • the product has been subject to negligence, abuse, misuse, or improper maintenance or storage
  • damage is beyond the manufacturer's control
  • the product has been modified without the manufacturer's written consent, including through unauthorised parts or attachments
  • problems arise from normal wear or from not following the instructions
Adding parts not made by the manufacturer, or parts that do not meet original equipment specifications, voids the warranty. The manufacturer decides whether a claim is covered, and is not liable for consequential or incidental damages.
Making a claim
Contact us first and we will walk you through it. Have your order number, the serial number from the chair's frame, and photos or video of the fault ready — it speeds the process considerably. Email support@morellimedical.com or call (866) 338-2838.
Returns ▾
Return policy
You have 30 days from receiving your order to request a return. To be eligible, the product must be in new or like-new condition, in its original packaging, with the serial number label intact and legible. Keep the box and packaging until you are sure the chair is right for you.
How to start a return
Contact us before sending anything back. Every return needs a Return Authorisation number from Altimate Medical, and we arrange this for you. Once your return is approved, we will send you instructions for shipping it back to the manufacturer in Minnesota. Items sent back without an approved return authorisation cannot be accepted. Email support@morellimedical.com or call (866) 338-2838.
Return costs
  • Return shipping: prepaid by you
  • Restocking fee: 20% of the product price, deducted from your refund
  • Original shipping charges: not refunded
Inspection and refunds
Altimate Medical inspects every returned product and determines whether it is in new or like-new condition. If a product arrives back damaged, the deduction can exceed the 20% restocking fee. Special-order parts and accessories that are not stock items cannot be refunded. Because shower commode chairs are personal hygiene equipment, a chair that has been used cannot be returned.
Damaged or incorrect items
Inspect your order as soon as it arrives. If anything is defective, damaged, or not what you ordered, contact us immediately so we can put it right. Where the error is on our side or the manufacturer's, the return is collected at no cost and refunded in full, including shipping. Photographs of the packaging and the contents help considerably.
Before you order
A shower commode chair has to fit the person using it and the bathroom it goes into. Frame width, seat type and opening, weight capacity, wheels or casters, and whether it goes over the toilet or uses the commode pan all matter, and getting one wrong is the most common reason for a return. ActiveAid advises that its chairs be used under the guidance of a physician or therapist. Call us at (866) 338-2838 before you buy and we will work through the configuration with you.
Shipping ▾
Shipping overview
ActiveAid chairs ship directly from Altimate Medical in Morton, Minnesota. Each chair ships with its owner's manual, which includes instructions for assembly, use and maintenance.
Lead times
Chairs typically ship in 7–10 business days, but lead times can extend to around 3 weeks depending on the model and configuration. Replacement parts usually ship within 24–48 hours. If you need your chair by a particular date, call us before ordering and we will confirm the current lead time for your specific order.
Filing a claim
Carriers accept liability for loss or damage once they collect the shipment, so claims have to be filed with the carrier. Inspect the shipment before the driver leaves, note any damage on the delivery receipt, and ask the driver to sign to acknowledge it. If damage is not obvious until you unpack, contact us straight away — hidden damage must be reported within 5 days of delivery. Email support@morellimedical.com or call (866) 338-2838 with your full name, order number and photos of the box and the contents.

ActiveAid

ActiveAid 285TR Tilt & Recline Shower Commode Chair

$1,632.00

Built to the user, component by component — frame, positioning mechanism, seat, back, armrests, leg rests and supports specified per order. Send the therapist's recommendation to (866) 338-2838 or info@morellimedical.com for a free quote.

Special sizes

Only the 18″W × 18″D frame is a standard size. The 16″×18″, 18″×20″, 20″×18″, 20″×20″, 22″×18″ and 22″×20″ frames are built to special order — available, but priced on request and with a longer lead time. If the assessment calls for one of these, contact us for pricing before you order and we'll quote the frame with its matching seat, back and pan.

ActiveAid 285TR · Tilt, Recline & Seat Height Adjustment

Tilt, recline and a seat that raises over the toilet

The 285TR combines three adjustments in one chair: 0°–26° tilt-in-space, 0°–40° back recline, and a tool-free height-adjustable seat spanning 22″ to 25″. That last one is the reason clinics choose it — raise the seat and the chair rolls over a standard toilet; lower it and use a commode pan. Rated to 350 lb across all seven frame sizes.

Who it fits

Adults up to 350 lb with complex positioning needs — users requiring head support, lateral trunk support, hip guides, elevating leg rests, or recline for feeding, respiration or catheterisation.

Why tilt and recline

Tilt moves the whole posture without changing joint angles — pressure relief with positioning preserved. Recline opens the hip angle independently. Together they cover both needs on one frame.

Funding

ActiveAid publishes a funding guide and a 285TR-specific sample letter of medical necessity — ask us for both. HCPCS coding depends on the configuration; we confirm it with the manufacturer before you submit.

The sibling question

285TR or 285

The 285 tilts only, on a fixed-height frame, and rolls on 24″ wheels or casters. The 285TR adds recline and a height-adjustable seat, and runs on four casters. Two things decide it: if the therapist has specified recline, or if the chair must roll over a toilet as well as take a pan, you need the TR. Notably, the TR's frame positioning is itself a choice — order it as tilt-only, recline-only, or both. Below both chairs, the SC is self-propelled without tilt; the BCB and 101 are stationary.

Two ways to buy

Itemised build or package

An itemised build specifies every component — the route for anything outside a standard combination, and the only route for the six special-size frames. A package bundles a tested combination at one price. We can quote both against the same recommendation.

Features

01 · Tilt & Recline

Tilt-in-space and recline for complex positioning

A stainless steel frame with a reclining back and tilt-in-space, combined to handle complex positioning needs while adding support, comfort and pressure relief. Tilt runs 0° to 26° and the seat-to-back angle opens from 0° to 40°. The frame is ordered as tilt, recline, or tilt/recline.

0°–26° tilt 0°–40° recline Tilt, recline or both

02 · Swing-Away Laterals

Adjustable trunk support, left and right

Swing-away adjustable laterals are available as separate left-hand and right-hand parts, alongside left and right arm-mounted hip guides and a large abductor/deflector. Large and XL head supports set from 22.5″ to 30.5″ above the seat, and Bodypoint® trunk, waist and knee belts round out the positioning options.

Left & right laterals Hip guides Large or XL head support

03 · Seat Height Adjustment

Over the toilet, or with a commode pan

The tool-free, 4-way seat adjusts from 22″ to 25″ floor to seat, so the chair can be used over a toilet or with a commode pan, at home or in a facility. Under-seat height clearance is 17.75″, with 15″ from the back of the unit to the start of the commode opening. Pan and hanger sets are sized to each frame.

22″–25″ seat height Tool-free, 4-way Over-toilet or pan

04 · Elevating Leg Rest

Elevating or standard leg rests, per side

Elevating leg rests come as left and right parts, with a length range of 16.5″ to 23.5″ raised and 15.5″ to 22.5″ lowered. Standard gooseneck leg rests cover 16″ to 20″. Footplates are chosen per side: plain, heel loop, padded or oversized aluminum.

05 · Options & Upgrades

Configure your ActiveAid 285TR

The main choices:

  • Frame — 18″×18″ standard; six special sizes from 16″×18″ to 22″×20″. Black or white; white is applied if no colour is specified
  • Frame positioning — tilt, recline, or tilt and recline combined
  • Seat — nineteen options in front-open, front/rear-open, side-open, contoured and solid shapes
  • Back — sling or solid, matched to frame width
  • Armrests — padded or arm trough matched to frame depth, or height-adjustable; left and right ordered separately
  • Casters — four dual-locking, or two standard and two dual-locking
  • Leg rests — standard or elevating, per side; footplates plain, heel-loop, padded or oversized aluminium
  • Positioning aids — swing-away adjustable laterals, arm-mounted hip guides, large abductor/deflector
  • Head supports, belts and pans — Large or XL head support; waist, trunk, knee and Bodypoint® belts; pan and hanger matched to frame size

06 · Before You Order

Fit, configuration and safe use

  • Frame, seat, back and pan must all match in width and depth. Four components, one dimension set — this is the most common ordering error on the TR, and it's stricter than the 285, which only matches width.
  • Armrests must match frame depth. An 18″-deep frame takes 18″ armrests; a 20″-deep frame takes 20″. Height-adjustable arms must be ordered as a matched left-and-right pair.
  • Four further dependencies. Calf straps aren't available with elevating leg rests. Arm-mounted hip guides aren't available with height-adjustable armrests. Bodypoint® calf straps are frame-width specific. And leg rests do not include footplates — those are separate lines, ordered per side.
  • Only the 18″×18″ frame is a standard size. The other six are special-order, priced on enquiry with a longer lead time.
  • Every order requires a named ATP, and the configuration follows the treating therapist's recommendation.
  • Indoor use only. Suitable for bathrooms on stable, firm, slip-resistant floors — not pools or similarly corrosive environments. Read the owner's manual in full before first use and check all fasteners regularly.

Selection, adjustment and transfer technique should be determined by the user and a qualified medical professional. Morelli Medical supplies equipment and does not provide clinical assessment, prescribe therapy, or advise on transfer protocols.

Cleaning & Care

Rinse after each shower use and dry before storing. Clean with a non-abrasive, non-alcohol-based soap, germicidal wipes rated to kill C. difficile spores, or a bleach dilution up to 1:10 — avoid alcohol-based sanitisers on the seat upholstery. Inspect fasteners, upholstery, belts, casters, the tilt and recline mechanisms and the seat height adjustment regularly.
