Warranty, Shipping & Returns

Warranty ▾
Warranty basics
ActiveAid shower commode chairs are made in the USA by Altimate Medical in Minnesota, and are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty is extended to the original purchaser only. Morelli Medical is an authorised Altimate Medical supplier — so warranty service runs through us.
Warranty length
Coverage varies by component:
  • Stainless steel frame: 3 years
  • Brake mechanisms, locking mechanisms, wheels and casters: 1 year
  • Other metal and structural parts: 1 year
  • Upholstered components, plastic pads, rubber parts, painted surfaces, bearings and all other parts: 6 months on the 285TR and 600; 90 days on the ActiveAid SC
The warranty period starts on the date the chair ships from the factory, not the date it is delivered.
How warranty repairs work
Any product the manufacturer confirms is defective within the warranty period will be repaired or replaced, at the manufacturer's option. Repair or replacement is the sole remedy under the warranty. Labour for installing replacement parts is not included. Never send a product to the factory without prior authorisation — contact us first.
What is not covered
The warranty does not apply where:
  • the serial number has been removed or defaced
  • the product has been subject to negligence, abuse, misuse, or improper maintenance or storage
  • damage is beyond the manufacturer's control
  • the product has been modified without the manufacturer's written consent, including through unauthorised parts or attachments
  • problems arise from normal wear or from not following the instructions
Adding parts not made by the manufacturer, or parts that do not meet original equipment specifications, voids the warranty. The manufacturer decides whether a claim is covered, and is not liable for consequential or incidental damages.
Making a claim
Contact us first and we will walk you through it. Have your order number, the serial number from the chair's frame, and photos or video of the fault ready — it speeds the process considerably. Email support@morellimedical.com or call (866) 338-2838.
Returns ▾
Return policy
You have 30 days from receiving your order to request a return. To be eligible, the product must be in new or like-new condition, in its original packaging, with the serial number label intact and legible. Keep the box and packaging until you are sure the chair is right for you.
How to start a return
Contact us before sending anything back. Every return needs a Return Authorisation number from Altimate Medical, and we arrange this for you. Once your return is approved, we will send you instructions for shipping it back to the manufacturer in Minnesota. Items sent back without an approved return authorisation cannot be accepted. Email support@morellimedical.com or call (866) 338-2838.
Return costs
  • Return shipping: prepaid by you
  • Restocking fee: 20% of the product price, deducted from your refund
  • Original shipping charges: not refunded
Inspection and refunds
Altimate Medical inspects every returned product and determines whether it is in new or like-new condition. If a product arrives back damaged, the deduction can exceed the 20% restocking fee. Special-order parts and accessories that are not stock items cannot be refunded. Because shower commode chairs are personal hygiene equipment, a chair that has been used cannot be returned.
Damaged or incorrect items
Inspect your order as soon as it arrives. If anything is defective, damaged, or not what you ordered, contact us immediately so we can put it right. Where the error is on our side or the manufacturer's, the return is collected at no cost and refunded in full, including shipping. Photographs of the packaging and the contents help considerably.
Before you order
A shower commode chair has to fit the person using it and the bathroom it goes into. Frame width, seat type and opening, weight capacity, wheels or casters, and whether it goes over the toilet or uses the commode pan all matter, and getting one wrong is the most common reason for a return. ActiveAid advises that its chairs be used under the guidance of a physician or therapist. Call us at (866) 338-2838 before you buy and we will work through the configuration with you.
Shipping ▾
Shipping overview
ActiveAid chairs ship directly from Altimate Medical in Morton, Minnesota. Each chair ships with its owner's manual, which includes instructions for assembly, use and maintenance.
Lead times
Chairs typically ship in 7–10 business days, but lead times can extend to around 3 weeks depending on the model and configuration. Replacement parts usually ship within 24–48 hours. If you need your chair by a particular date, call us before ordering and we will confirm the current lead time for your specific order.
Filing a claim
Carriers accept liability for loss or damage once they collect the shipment, so claims have to be filed with the carrier. Inspect the shipment before the driver leaves, note any damage on the delivery receipt, and ask the driver to sign to acknowledge it. If damage is not obvious until you unpack, contact us straight away — hidden damage must be reported within 5 days of delivery. Email support@morellimedical.com or call (866) 338-2838 with your full name, order number and photos of the box and the contents.

ActiveAid

ActiveAid 285 Tilt-in-Space Shower Commode Chair

$1,941.00

Built to the user, component by component — frame, seat, back, armrests, leg rests and supports specified per order. Send the therapist's recommendation to (866) 338-2838 or info@morellimedical.com for a free quote.

Special sizes

Only the 18″ wide frame is a standard size. The 16″, 20″ and 22″ frames are built to special order — available, but priced on request and with a longer lead time. If the assessment calls for one of these widths, contact us for pricing before you order and we'll come back with a full quote including the matching seat and back.

ActiveAid 285 · Tilt-in-Space

Tilt-in-space for pressure relief, without leaving the chair

The 285 is a gravity-assist tilt-in-space shower commode chair. Tilting 5° to 29° shifts load off the seating surface and redistributes it across the back, giving pressure relief and postural support for users who can't reposition themselves. Four frame widths from 16″ to 22″, a choice of 24″ rear wheels or four casters, and rated to 350 lb.

Who it fits

Adults up to 350 lb who need more support than a backrest and armrests provide — including users requiring head support, lateral trunk support, hip guides or elevating leg rests.

Why tilt-in-space

Tilt changes the orientation of the whole seated posture without changing hip, knee or ankle angles. Positioning is preserved while load moves off the sitting surface — the reason tilt is prescribed for pressure management.

Funding

ActiveAid publishes a funding guide and letter-of-medical-necessity support — ask us for both. HCPCS coding depends on the configuration; we confirm it with the manufacturer before you submit.

The sibling question

285 or 285TR

The 285 tilts. The 285TR tilts, reclines and adjusts seat height — more capability, more cost, and the back angle opens independently of the tilt. If the therapist has specified recline for feeding, respiration or catheterisation, you need the TR. If the goal is pressure relief and postural support, the 285 does it. Below both, the SC is self-propelled without tilt, and the BCB and 101 are stationary. We can quote the 285 against the TR on the same recommendation.

Two ways to buy

Itemised build or package

An itemised build specifies every component from the options list — the route for anything outside a standard combination, and the only route for the 16″, 20″ and 22″ frames. A package bundles a tested combination at one price. We can quote both against the same recommendation.

Features

ActiveAid 285 tilted back with head support and elevating leg rests

01 · Tilt-in-Space

5° to 29°, gravity assisted

The tilt mechanism is gravity assisted, so a caregiver moves the chair through its range with far less effort than lifting or repositioning the user. Seat-to-back angle stays fixed at 14° throughout, which is what distinguishes tilt from recline — the posture is preserved, only its orientation changes.

5°–29° tilt Gravity assisted Fixed 14° seat-to-back

02 · Support & Positioning

Support that stays with the user, from sink to shower

Swing-away adjustable laterals and arm-mounted hip guides are ordered per side, so asymmetric presentations get asymmetric support. Large and XL head supports adjust over an 8″ range, and backs come solid or adjustable sling in every frame width. The laterals swing clear for transfers and back in for washing, grooming and toileting.

03 · Leg Rests & Mobility

Elevating leg rests, and a choice of how it rolls

Elevating leg rests raise from 19″ to 26″, and gooseneck rests suit users who don't need elevation. Both are ordered per side, with plain, heel-loop, padded or oversized aluminium footplates. Choose 24″ rear wheels in solid, pneumatic or flat-free for attendant propulsion over distance, or four 5″ casters for a shorter, more manoeuvrable chair.

04 · Frame & Seats

One frame width sets the whole build

The 18″ frame is standard, with 16″, 20″ and 22″ available as special sizes, in black or white. Seat and back are matched to the frame width, with eighteen seat options in Ensolite®, Comfortuff, moulded foam and 2.5″ moulded gel, across front-open, front/rear-open, ring, race-track oval and solid shapes.

05 · Options & Upgrades

Configure your ActiveAid 285

The main choices:

  • Frame — 18″ standard; 16″, 20″ and 22″ as special sizes. Black or white; white is applied if no colour is specified
  • Seat — eighteen options across Ensolite®, Comfortuff, moulded foam and moulded gel, in front-open, front/rear-open, ring, race-track oval and solid shapes
  • Back — solid or adjustable sling, matched to frame width
  • Armrests — padded, arm trough, or height-adjustable; left and right ordered separately
  • Wheels or casters — 24″ solid, pneumatic or flat-free rear wheels with bolted axles and anti-tipping levers, or 5″ dual-locking rear casters; PVC handrims optional
  • Leg rests — gooseneck or elevating, ordered per side; footplates plain, heel-loop, padded or oversized aluminium
  • Positioning aids — swing-away adjustable laterals, arm-mounted hip guides, large abductor/deflector
  • Head supports — Large or XL
  • Belts and pans — waist, trunk, knee and Bodypoint® belts, calf straps, and pan-and-hanger sets matched to the seat style

06 · Before You Order

Fit, configuration and safe use

  • Frame, seat and back must all be the same width. This is the single most common ordering error on the 285 — an 18″ frame takes an 18″ seat and an 18″ back, no exceptions.
  • Four dependencies. Calf straps aren't available with elevating leg rests. Arm-mounted hip guides aren't available with height-adjustable armrests. Bodypoint® calf straps are frame-width specific. And the pan must match the seat style — one hanger fits ring and contoured seats, another fits front, front/rear and race-track oval.
  • Only the 18″ frame is a standard size. The 16″, 20″ and 22″ frames are special-order — available, but priced on enquiry and with a longer lead time. Tell us early if you need one.
  • Leg rests do not include footplates. Footplates are a separate line, ordered per side.
  • Every order requires a named ATP, and the configuration follows the treating therapist's recommendation.
  • Indoor use only. Suitable for bathrooms on stable, firm, slip-resistant floors — not pools or similarly corrosive environments. Read the owner's manual in full before first use and check all fasteners regularly.

Selection, adjustment and transfer technique should be determined by the user and a qualified medical professional. Morelli Medical supplies equipment and does not provide clinical assessment, prescribe therapy, or advise on transfer protocols.

Clean with a non-abrasive, non-alcohol-based soap, germicidal wipes rated to kill C. difficile spores, or a bleach dilution up to 1:10 — avoid alcohol-based sanitisers on the seat upholstery. Inspect fasteners, upholstery, belts, wheels, casters and wheel locks regularly.
